RV History in America

In today’s world, RV’ing is more popular than ever. Ever since the the first recreational vehicles were created the interest has been huge. As a country built on exploration and innovation it is no surprise that Americans have travelled the country in their RV.

RVs are closely tied to the production of the automobile and as the automobile’s and roads continuously improved so did the rv’s and campers allowing for people to more easily travel the country. The first RV according to the Smithsonian was hand built onto a vehicle in 1904 and included an ice chest, radio, and incandescent lights for illumination. Once the RVs began to be massed produced they added more and more features that kept up with the technology at the time. RVs have been utilized for families, soldiers, laborers, musicians and so many more over the years.

As with everything, the RV continues to advance and more people are finding it appealing to buy or rent an rv. Today’s RVs come equipped with full kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, washer/dryers, AC/Heat and so much more. It is truly exciting to see where this industry is headed.
